This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 01, 2007:
Hurricanes.
Daily thunderstorms.
Fresh, home-grown tomatos and corn and potatos. Fresh zucchini and cucumbers. The last hurrah of crawfish season.
A loosening of schedules, a chance to catch up. A chance to breathe, move slower. Watching plants and children grow like mad.

My parents are from Louisiana, Hammond and Alexandria. Daily thunderstorms…I miss vacationing at my grandparents sitting in the front gallery listening to the thunder and rain, sipping sweet tea. I have yet to taste a tomato better than the ones my grandfather grew or strawberries for that matter. Never got into crawfish, though. I'm a catfish and boudin man myself.
Thanks for triggering sweet memories…
